Apply for TRIPS: An Alternative Break!

By Laura Riley

“My TRIPS experience has challenged me to further embrace communio on campus and in the De Pere and Green Bay communities. It has taught me what it truly means to make a difference and I have used the experience to grow as an individual.” 〜 Lindsey Osgood ‘14

TRIPS (Turning Responsibility into Powerful Service) is an alternative break service program that gives students the opportunity to put their values, convictions, and religious beliefs into action through service. Students have found TRIPS experiences to be life-changing opportunities.

The St. Norbert College TRIPS Program invites you to participate! Not only will you grow as an individual, you will learn new leadership skills, gain new perspectives, and broaden your understanding of the world around you. TRIPS occur during winter break (December/January) and spring break (March). Check out all the incredible 2013-2014 destinations!

One of the spring break TRIPS destinations is L’Arche in Iowa.  L’Arche is an organization that is dedicated to the creation and growth of homes, programs, and support networks with people who have intellectual disabilities. Their mission is to make known the gifts of people with intellectual disabilities, to foster the development of communities that respond to members’ changing needs, and to engage with local cultures while working toward a more human society.

“During our stay in the L’Arche community, there were Jesuit Novices present who assisted us in our daily reflection. They led reflection in a way that related to our culture, which encouraged me to explore my everyday intentions and decisions.” 〜 Morgan Schell ’15, L’Arche TRIPS Participant
